Geo About Modding for Oblivion

Congratulations on finding my hidden page about my upcomming projects. It has been a nice time, modding for Morrowind. But every beginning has an end.
I think making mods for Morrowind has been fun but the limits on modding with the engine bugged me a lot. When I make mods my main goal is to create realistic looking stuff for morrowind. But with the limits I had with the morrowind engine that wasn't always possible. But finally Oblivion is comming closer and closer. Since the Gothic Castle will be my last project for morrowind I'm already working on some new idea's for Oblivion which you will find here.

To bad there isn't that much information known about the editor but that doesn't stops me and other modders from making the first plans for Oblivion.
A lot of people ask me if I'm going to return with my mods in Oblivion I often answer with a "yes". But nothing is certain, I don't know what amount of time I have for modding when Oblivion is released etc. That's why it could be possible that things you will see here aren't going to be released as full mods.
I think most of my main race mods will return in Oblivion, since modding new races was possible in Morrwind I suppose that adding new races and custom models will also be possible.

Now I've been working now and then on some small lose projects. One of them is the new version of the Irashi-ru [elves] for oblivion. It's not certain if these will return in Oblivion as elves or another breed of humans. This race is going to have a lot more anime look than they did in Morrowind. This could be messy for the people who are more into lore stuff but I think some of you might like it.

The models in Morrowind have a lot more poly's in Oblivion, that's why I decided to create another head instead of using my old heads from Oblivion. The picture above shows the new Irashi-ru Head rendered in wireframe mode to show the ammount of poly's.

As you can see the model contains a lot more poly's than a normal morrowind head has and mabey even a normal Oblivion head will have. That's why this is just an early preview screen of the modelled head. Later I can see if I'll remove some of the poly's to make it more suitable for Oblivion. The base model is finished but it's being rendered with a test map which is still a test render and not the real skincolor.

There's still a lot of concept art laying arround for idea's for mods. One of them is a new architecture style, based on the Darhjiin architecture which is seen in "the eye of Arriisiss".
It's also still a concept with some models which will be probably to big for me to finish, but it would add some nice new buidlings to the game.

Since Oblivion allows the modder to use bumpmaps and speculair maps it's now a lot easier to make realistic looking walls and buildings. By applying bump maps yu can easely add small details which were otherwise impossible to model.
This creates a lot more realistic look than the models in Morrowind.

Details you can make with bumpmaps, note that the gold is actually reflecting light.

I still have tons of ideas which are going to be to much to discuss them all here but I showed you two of my projects to show you some of my plans for Oblivion. But for now, I'll be finishing my last project for morrowind and I'll be waiting for Oblivion...
